 Cobb Library Foundation

The Cobb Library Foundation is a non-profit 501c3 corporation governed by a Board of Directors and created as a fund raising body for the Cobb County Public Library System.  Its purpose is to plan and implement fundraising for the Library System to supplement, not take the place of, funds from traditional sources.

Our Mission is to increase the presence of the library in the community through  advocacy and fundraising.

 Book Sale - October 10-12, 2008

The Friends of the Library hold semi-annual book sales one weekend in the fall and spring for three days beginning on Friday.  All proceeds are used to purchase new books and other library materials.  The next Book Sale is October 10 - 12, 2008, at Jim R. Miller Park off Callaway Road in Marietta.

 Volunteer!

The library welcomes volunteers. Volunteers often “adopt” a range of shelves and keep it in exact order.  Other volunteers help with shelving, paperbacks, straightening, and periodicals.  An application is linked to this site.  Please note that all volunteers must be at least 16 years of age and a background check is required.  Every attempt is made to match opportunities with volunteers.  However, library staff, instead of volunteers, must perform some jobs. Among these are storytimes and computer work involving patron records.

 Memorial and Honoring Donations

What better way to Remember or Honor someone than to donate a book or collection of books in their honor.  The best way to make this type of donation is with a check.  The library staff will assist in the selection and ordering of books or other library materials.  A dedication sticker is attached to the material and the material will be housed in the library location of your choice.   Materials donated in this way must meet library selection guidelines.  Individual donations may be made at any branch library.  For large donations arrangements may be made through the Administrative Office.

 Book Donations

The Cobb County Public Library System accepts donations of library materials including books, magazines, puzzles, computer software and audiovisuals.
These items may be taken to any library for donation.  The library staff will go through the items and determine if they can be used in the library.  If they cannot be used in the library, they will go to be stored for the next Friends of the Library book sale.

Items may be taken to any Cobb County Public Library.
All money from the book sale goes into the library materials (Book and Audiovisual) budget.

Items may be taken to any Cobb County Public Library.  The Central Library is the only building with a loading dock and possible unloading assistance.  The library staff will give you a receipt indicating the number and type (hard/paper) of books.  We do not assign a value.  It is helpful if the books are in boxes and have been counted.  The library cannot circulate or sell homemade copies of audio cassettes or video cassettes.
