Q.
Since the system was
upgraded, I have been having trouble accessing My Account.
A.
You may need to update your link into the catalog.
Delete and recreate any “Favorites” CobbCat
bookmarks in order to update the path followed by the
link into the catalog. This should correct any changes
made during the catalog update completed in October.
If this does not help, please contact our Customer Service

Q.
How do I
reserve a book online?
A. To reserve a
book online, log in to CobbCat using your card number and PIN.
If you enter your card number and PIN when you first logon to
CobbCat, you do not have to keep entering it for each
transaction. Do a search and, if more than one title/edition is
listed, select DETAILS. Then click on PLACE RESERVE. Select a
pickup location by clicking on the arrow at the end of that
field. Then select PLACE HOLD. You will see a confirmation
screen. Select OK to return to the catalog. As always, if the
item is available and you want to pick it up right away, call
the library to make sure it is really there and to have the
staff pull it for you immediately. If you need help, you

Q. How can I find
out what I have checked out and when it is due?

Q. How can I find out where I am on the waiting list for a book?
A. Log in to
CobbCat using your card
number and PIN. Select
My Account and then
Review My Account. You'll see a list of all the items
you have checked out with the due dates, then a list of any
fines or other charges on your account and then a list of all
items you have on hold and where you are on the waiting list.
Keep in mind that the length of time you have to wait for a
title is also determined by how many copies the library has. If
you need help, you can call us at 770/528-2320.
Q. I liked the
catalog better when the details section showed a description of the
book or named the main character.
A. When you search the catalog and display the
"Details" about a title, the screen display has two tabs. Select
"Catalog Record." If we have summary information, that's
where it will be.
Q. I cannot
remember my PIN. How can I get it or change it?
A. Bring your
library card and another form of ID next time you visit the
Library or call our Customer Service Department at 770/528-2326.
Q. I am having a
really hard time browsing the movies in the library system. I used
to be able to choose the category Video Recording, place a year in
and find all videos from 2002 (etc.).
A. To limit a
search to a specific medium, select Power Search and type in the
author and/or title. Scroll down to the last section and click
on the arrow in the Material Type field. The material types are
not listed in any particular order but Videocassettes is near
the bottom. To get a list of movies, just select VIDEOCASSETTE
for Material Type, FICTION for Category and, if you want, ADULT
for Age. Then type in the year. It's not necessary to put in a
title.
Q. How do I
renew my books online?
A. To renew items online,
select My Account.
Log in using your card number and PIN. If you enter your
card number and PIN when you first logon to
CobbCat, you do not
have to keep entering it for each transaction. Select My
Account and then Renew My Materials. Just put a
check in the box next to each item you want to renew. If
you want to renew everything, there is a box at the top for
that. You can also renew from Review My Account by
selecting “Click here to Renew titles.”
Q. I tried to
renew my books online but could not. What's wrong?
A. There are
several things that can keep an item from renewing:

Fines from
the item(s) you are renewing or from other items
returned or renewed after the due date equal $10.00 or more.

The items
have already been renewed twice.

Another
person has requested the item.
-
Your library
card has expired.
Call the Library
(770/528-2320) as soon as possible to resolve the problem.
Q. I keep sending
messages using Contact Us but I never get a reply.
A. Responses to
these message are sent within three days. They can be read in My
Account. They do not display immediately and they are not sent
by email. Log in to CobbCat using your card number and PIN.
Select My Account then Review My Account and then
Requests/Library Messages.
Q. How do I get an
ebook account?
A.
To set up a
netLibrary Account: Log into
GALILEO
(Link) from the library home page. (To see the current
database/Galileo password, log on to
CobbCat using your
library card number and PIN. Then select MY PROFILE.
The password is at the top.)
Select netLibrary from the list of Galileo databases. Create your Free
Account.
Q. I can't renew
my books because they are overdue.
A. Simply being
overdue does not keep items from being renewed. If the estimated
fines on overdue items reach $10.00 your account will be blocked
and you cannot renew anything. Call 770/528-2320 for assistance.
Q. Can I get a list
of all the books I’ve ever checked out?
A. As a rule,
libraries, including Cobb County, do not retain this
information in order to protect our patrons'
confidentiality. You can start your own list if you go into
My Account, highlight the list of things you have checked
out and COPY. You can then PASTE it into a Word document.
It will paste as a table and can be sorted. Hope this
