2007 - $30,000 Raised for Georgia Room Expansion!

In April 2007, the Cobb County Library Foundation hosted well-known Southern author Pat Conroy at a gala event which raised $30,000 for the renovation and expansion of the Georgia Room at the Central Library.  Some 500 guests gathered at The Walker School in Marietta to hear Conroy weave stories about his real-life characters in books like, “The Prince of Tides,” “The Great Santini,” and “Lords of Discipline.”  Conroy also signed books and mingled with his admirers at a pre-event reception.

2006

The Cobb County Public Library Foundation held its inaugural fundraising event in April 2006 –a brunch featuring author Clyde Edgerton and his band, “The Rank Strangers.”  The event was held at the Center for Family Resources in Marietta, and folks were treated to a great brunch and a few remarks by Edgerton, author of “Walking Across Egypt” and “Lunch at the Piccadilly,” among other favorite books.
